Have been on phone with Apple for hours and depending upon who you speak with…everyone tells be something different.

Using 2 Canon cameras. I camera imports all clips into FCPX – no problem. Other camera – on longer clips will have video freeze but audio continues. Senior advisor told me to just transcode any clips that freezes…and yes….it works fine….but is taking lots of time. I was told not to have clips transcode upon exporting…..why…I don’t know. All clips being imported via card – Sandisk.
Is it the camera ? Called Canon – all setting are fine…and have used this cameras for over 5 years without a problem. Is it the memory card ? I have been using SONY….but this year I changed to Sandisk .
Called Sandisk…that should not be a problem.
Is it FCPX ? Why is the program working just fine with other camera ?
One advisor said it’s my IMAC.
I am in the middle of project now…looking at each clip and transcoding those that freeze. Any possible reason or solution ?
    Thanks

Just plain sounds to me as if your machine (whose specs you do not supply) is simply underpowered for the task and your expectations. The codec (which you also make no mention of) will of course also play a pivotal role. I’d say it’s obvious that both cameras are using different codecs, no?

Canon raw? Native 4K 60p XAVC on a 5 year old 21″ iMac? No one knows.

That’s complete nonsense, since there is zero technical difference to doing it upon import or after the fact. Unless you simply don’t want EVERYTHING transcoded.

Again, no mention of which camera(s) we’re even talking about. But no, it will simply be the chosen codec/format/framerate etc. and… your overwhelmed computer.

OR… any one of the other classics. Disk too full? Restart needed? Update of sorts needed etc. … ????????‍♂️

    See above.

Without knowing any of the other pertinent information, that’s what I would say is by far th most likely at this point, yes.

    Optimize.
