  • Function to Auto Trim Synchronized Clip?

Posted by Daniel Thomas on January 14, 2018 at 5:18 pm

I have a lot of work to do that will involve synching very tiny slices of video with huge sound files with a sychronized clip or multicam clip. Is there a way to autotrim the clip to only be the length of the video clip, rather than having 30+ minutes of sound on either side of the video, making finding the small slice nearly impossible and time consuming?

Do the audio and video have matching tc?

If so, use Sync-n-link X which has a function that will do just as your asking.

If you are syncing by waveform in FCPX, unfortunately there isn’t a built in function, you’ll have to keyword the clips manually, effectively creating subclip ranges to work from.

For a scenario like this, I’d use Pluraleyes to sync the video and audio as it can create new individual clips with the updated audio. haven’t used it in a long time so I can’t remember if it can send the new clips to FCPX virtually via XML or it has to render them out but either way, it should get the job done for you.
