  How to preserve color correction decisions from FCP > AE/PP?

  I’ve been using Ximport AE to move compositions from FCPX to AE and then re-save and PP projects.

  For the most part, this works great, with speed ramps and other keyframes translating pretty well.

  However, one issue I had is that all color correction work in FCPX is summarily discarded in translation.

  Is there some way to preserve these decisions? I haven’t used XtoCC but my understanding is that it does not keep color work either?

  You’d have to use a plugin that both apps can use so the information translates.

  Colorista comes mind. Test it first to make sure.

  Colour Board corrections mostly translate across to Resolve. I have no idea if you can get from Resolve to PP with the corrections intact.

  If you’re using the latest version of Color Finale rather than the Colour Board, it can export a LUT that you could apply in AE.

  Outside of that Jeremy’s suggestion of Colorista is a good one.

  My intention is to be able to preserve color decisions without requiring the client to purchase any extra software.

  I’ll try the Resolve route, looks promising.
