    Hi All.

I’m trying to edit some SSTP RGB files from the F55. I’m 99% sure this has worked before.

I run them through SR viewer to turn them into Quicktime .MOVs and then import to FCP X. I have the SR codec installed.

I can see the files in the browser complete with thumbnails but when I try to play or skim the file goes black.

Any ideas? Could it be conflicts with various codecs and plugins?

    Thanks.

    Michael

Why not use the SSTP MXF files in FCPX directly?

    Hey Jeremy,

I have tried that but it doesn’t seem to want to know – hence the question could there be an issue with my system, possibly various older codecs?

I have installed the Sony SR codec and removed the Sony MXF import plugin which has made no difference.

As I said I can see the files in the FCP X browser but can only see thumbnails.

    Any ideas?

You’ve tried the usual restart and trash prefs?

I’ve noticed that in 10.3.4, FCPX seems to take a really long time to build a cache and I’ve seen the black screen on ProRes movies too. If you can see thumbnails, that’s a decent sign that the codec is working.

I’d try deleting the .mov versions out of there, drag and drop MXF files. I’d also trash your cache.

    So the plot thickens..

I trashed the prefs and created a new Library, importing the files directly into it.

Now when I press play I see the image but if I pause it, or add an effect it goes black.
The really bizarre think is that if I create optimised media I just get a green screen.

Will have to send a bug report to Apple I think..
