  Frame rate question for a newbie – 24p vs. 30p

  It’s been a while since I’ve shot/produced web video and I’m starting to get into it again. The end products are going to be quick, one-to-two minute videos mainly featuring talking heads and graphics that end up on social media and YouTube.

  I prefer 24fps, but know that I’ll eventually have to use 30fps footage from iPhone cameras. Previously I used FCP7 and never mixed frame rates. Am I OK to mix these two (in a 24fps timeline) using FCPX, or will I suffer a quality loss or cause problems for myself down the line?

  For what you’re doing- won’t make much difference. That said I would try to shoot 24p everything if you can. There are apps for iPhone that will force 24p recording for example.
