  FCPX 10.3 crashing

  Hello,

  I am using El Capitan and just upgraded to FCPX 10.3. Every time I try to import .avi files it crashes the program. Does anyone know why so I can use this program? It never happened with the earlier versions.

  Mac Pro early 2009
  32 gig ram

  Perhaps the AVI files use an unsupported codec. Try opening one in QuickTime player and exporting to ProRes.

  Thank you,

  I had been trying to import directly from the external drive. Turns out if I first copied the file to my raid it works fine.
