  • Question regarding team editing of FCPX projects

Posted by Ross Chevalier on August 3, 2016 at 1:33 pm

    Hello all,

I apologize for what is likely a newbie question, but while I am a competent FCPX user, I am a one man band and haven’t had the experience in working on a team on a single project. A fellow I have taught some basic FCPX to has asked a question.

“Is there any way to have some one offsite edit a video using my captured footage (shared via drop box) then load up their project/timeline on my computer and relink all the source footage on my end?”

I believe that the answer is yes and relates to sharing an XML project file, but my knowledge ends there. Would any of you who do this sort of thing be so kind as to offer some guidance?

    Thank you kindly,

    Ross

    You can do that.

Only thing you need is Dropbox or Google Drive (Google gives you more storage) and the same access.

You don’t need a XML. Just put your lib there as well. But make sure it’s open only on one of your machines.
You even can put only ref-files on your virtual drive on your master machine – it will slow down the performance though.
