  • Renamed files within FCP and now getting lowres?

Posted by Rick Peters on March 28, 2016 at 6:55 pm

I’m working on a large multicamera project, multiple files from each camera. I imported everything and waited for FCP to generate proxy and optimized media.

When I started creating the multiclips I got the brilliant (stupid) idea to rename them all to keep it better organized, which I did within FCP in the library list of files. (This edited the metadata apparently).

Everything is working, nothing is coming up as missing, I created the multiclip but when I got to export the master file I get a 1920×1080 clip that looks lowres, as if it is using the proxy media to render the high-res file.

I assume this is happening because I renamed the clips. An earlier quick rough cut done before I renamed the files yielded a nice high-res multiclip.

Is there a way to relink or otherwise save myself from starting from scratch?

    Thanks for any assistance!
