  Any workflow for “media manage” trim to used + handles? Willing to go way outside the box for this.

  No – there’s not any way to do what you want inside of FCPX.

  if you can export the project to Resolve, you can use Resolve’s media management to achieve what you’re after, and (probably) round trip the project back.
