  • Multicam editing without having cuts on camera audio

I have 2 cameras that were recorded with audio and 1 H4N separate audio. I have already synched them up. I am about to do a Multicam edit in FCPX. If I want to use one of the in-camera audio sources as my main audio (I’m going to monitor that one when I edit in multicam) and not have it leave a cut every time I switch cameras in muticam, how can I do that?

In other words, I just want to cut the video without having cuts on the audio portion so I can tweet the audio later.

    Thanks in advance

Press one of these hotkey combinations to set the edit mode you want

Shift/Option-1: Cut&Switch Mulitcam Audio and Video
    Shift/Option-2: Cut&Switch Multicam Video Only
    Shift/Option-3: Cut&Switch Multicam Audio Only

Then press the number key of the track you want to switch to.

The edit mode will remain selected until you change it again. You don’t need to select it before every edit.

It will always leave a audio cut unfortunately. Once the content is locked I tend to turn off audio for the others and drag out the first clip audio underneath until you reach the next change in audio source. Makes mixing audio much easier later. More visual as well.
