  • Mono Audio Channel outputs on CH 3

Posted by Tobias Heilmann-schuricht on August 5, 2015 at 8:16 am

    Hi,

I have a source clip, with one audio channel set to mono. When looking at the inspector I also see the audio setting for that clip as MONO.

I see the audio on the FCPX meter (which also only shows mono). But I can not hear the audio as somehow this audio channel is being routed to CH3 on the output. I see this from my external audio meter de-embedding the SDI audio.

When I switch the audio setting of the clip from MONO to LEFT, for example, the audio maps to CH1 and I can hear it.

Why would the MONO setting map to CH3?

I am running the latest versions of every software on the system.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Tobias

What kind of output hardware are you using and how do you have that configured?

I am using BMD Ultra Studio 4K connected through TB2.

There really isn’t much configuring I can detect in the control panel that would affect this issue.

I am listening to my stereo sum (Ch1+2) via AES/EBU

I am seeing the channel mapping on my SmartScope 4K which is looking at the HD-SDI signal
