  Will a JBOD set up in Disc Utility be faster than not setting up a JBOD? Can I do that without wiping info clean?

  I am using my OWC Thunderbay to house 4 drives I’m using for the same project. I didn’t realize that to set it up for a JBOD, you need to go into disc utility and set that up before using it. I thought you could just install the hard drives and go…..

  So, two questions:

  1 – Would setting up an OWC Thunderbay 4 for FCP X be faster if I set it up as a JBOD rather than just having it be 4 separate drives?

  2 – Is there any way to do that without deleting everything I have on the discs? I’ve already spent days converting footage from AVCHD to Pro Res. I’d rather not repeat the process.
