Custom 3D text materials?
Hello, COWS. Been playing with turning 2D logos and such into glyphs/fonts to use in 3D text in FCP.
How ’bout that — it actually works! So does anyone have any thoughts on how to bring a custom material into FCP to use it as a face?
Example: a logo has a specific color scheme or texture ( like the NBC peacock, for instance). I want to bring in that texture to apply to the front face of the 3D logo. So instead of a “blue paint” front face, I can select “Jeff’s custom peacock colors” and apply it. It doesn’t need to be on the extruded sides, just on the front.
Disclaimer: I know little to nothing useful about Motion. That said…
Revealing an existing texture in Finder through Motion shows the location of the thumbnail image, .molo and .mopr files. So is it a matter of bringing a texture into Motion and saving the project? Or is it (almost certainly) a lot more complicated, something a developer would have to figure out? Mark Spenser maybe?
This could be a really useful alternative to having a Cinema 4D make the model and texture mapping the color onto it.
