  stuck in a import/message loop

  Hey gang, I went to trash a file while I was importing footage and now stuck with a double-message loop.
  One message says it can’t trash the file and the other message says I have to wait for background tasks to complete for trying to trash a file. I can’t force quit or quit.

  I am using FCPX and files on external drive. Any ideas?

  Force turn off the Mac would be my suggestion. Of course you might lose some work.

  Select Background Tasks and stop the active tasks. The Icon at the left of the
  timecode window.
