Hello,
I just upgraded to a new Macpro tower. I transferred all the info from my old mac. I work in FCPX but I have to output to DVCAM Tape for broadcast. I usually output my final movie in FCPX via a compressor setting DV/DVCpro NTSC progressive mpeg-2 video, 720X480 QT movie. Then I put it into FCP7 to output to DVCAM tape.

Now with my new Macpro tower the setting is not there and I can’t figure out how to get it. Whenever I try anything in FCPX output the ending result is a squished version when I import to FCP7. Strange thing started to happen lately is in FCP7 the import window disappears so quickly I can’t use it any more so I drag the video on the timeline.

The DV/DVpro Ntsc Progressive option is not available anymore in Compressor 4.1.3.

Anyone know how to do that for today and if you know of a better workflow I would love to hear about it.

That’s a confusing statement. DV/DVCPRO is DV25 format not MPEG-2 format. Also DV is interlaced so I’m not sure why you think you need progressive.

Have you tried creating your own Compressor template? I created one for DV/DVCPRO NTSC and exposed it to FCP X without a problem. You create the template in Compressor 4 but you add it to FCP X from within FCP X using Add Destination….

DV doesn’t have to be progressive. We rendered out progressive DV all the time. DV TAPE must be interlaced, but when written to tape in fields you simply got two fields of the same action. PSF I guess.

Hi Steve. It’s pretty easy. Here’s how:
Open Compressor 4
Select the Current tab (Command ⌘ + 1)
Select the Settings panel (Shift + Command ⌘ + 1)
In the lower left press the plus (+) icon and select New Settings…
Select Format: QuickTime Movie
Make the Name: DV/DVCPRO NTSC
Make the Description: DV/DVCPRO 720×480 NTSC 60i
Press OK
Select the Video Tab
Press the Change… button next to QuickTime Settings
Select DV/DVCPRO NTSC from the Compression Type
Make any other adjustments like 16;9 and high quality
Press OK
