  Adding old projects back into FCPX

  I upgraded to a new Mac Pro when they first came out and when I did that I bought an external raid that is housing my files. When I started up in FCPX again I just started fresh. Now I need to re-impirt some old projects buy have no idea how to do that. On my Pegasus I have two folder (Final Cut Events & Final Cut Projects). What do I have to do with those to get them to show up in FCPX?

  I have two Folders, Final Cut Events & Final Cut Projects. What do I need to do with both of these to make them work?

  InsideX, there’s a menu choice for Upgrade old projects. It’s global so it does whole volumes at once. The big “gotcha” is that unless you prepare your finder organization in advance, X will put all your past projects into a generic folder called “old projects” which causes migrators to think their old stuff has been lost. It hasn’t. Do research on FCPX Libraries and you’ll find step by step instructions out there. Good luck.

  I would recommend following what Philip outlines here to the t:

  Especially if you have a lot of events/projects. If say 3 or less, then you could simply use the “Update Projects and Events” command in FCP, yes (assuming they are at the top level of your disk).

  Thanks guys,

  I finally figure out that I needed to have those folders in the root directory to be able to upgrade them. My files were in a subfolder on my RAID.
