can I do a keyword analysis?
I just painstakingly keyworded 51 hours of footage, much of it rather dense interviews. I did stream-of-consciousness keywording just to get it all logged. But now I have tons of keywords, many of them a bit redundant (eg, some clips keyworded under ‘reductive’ and others under ‘reductionism’). I’m wondering if there is a way I can do a keyword analysis where I can see what terms are keyed most frequently. Also, is there a way to create thematic keyword groups for words that belong together?
It would be really dreamy if I could play around with my keyword groups in some way…..

You could create “top level” keywords to group related keyword clips.
And don’t forget about Smart collections; “show me clips with top-keyword “A” AND sub-keyword “g” AND keyword “good soundbite”. I find Smart collections are incredibly useful as the # of clips increase. My template Library (a Library that contains some often-used graphics and Smart and regular keywords) has Smart collections called; Timelines (which are projects – snapshots), Comps (grouped clips), Stills, Audio, Multicam, and Unused.
I didn’t answer your question, but perhaps helped in another way.

You could select the two redundant keywords in the browser, which would display both sets as a whole, and then apply the desired keyword to them all. Then simply delete the undesired keyword.
You can make groups by smart collections, or by making folders and putting related keywords in the folder. Then just select the folder.

You could also wash your event through Shot Notes X and see if you can’t organize into larger buckets-

I really wish there was a feature where they could show you your hierarchy of keywords or do a keyword analysis……it would really help with rough cuts and story building!

Odds are there’s some Smart Collection tutorials on MacBreak Studio. But they’re pretty self-explanatory, and identical in nature to Smart Playlists in iTunes.

Aka, the LittleKeywordExtractor !I just tested it, and it should do just what you need. Take the output of LKE and open in a spreadsheet, database, whatever. It’s a comma-delimited file of keywords and timecode.
