Hi… I have experimented with compressor and can’t seem to export an animation with alpha to AE

I usually use uncompressed animation with colors + so that I get alpha or png sequence/ png (this is not an option in compressor)

It seems the default FCPX background black will not enable a transparent layer.

I have clip exporter but can’t still seem to create alpha areas. using xml too. any ideas of work around for AE and photoshop?

    Thanks for all your help

Set your project settings in FCPX to Prores 444, then export “same as source” in the share window.

If it’s still not working, delete your render files for that Project and try again.

Do you have Compressor? Assuming you’re using the latest versions of everything… Go to your fop x share preferences and bring in this setting from compressor:

Something changed recently with alpha exports, but that’ll do the trick. 🙂

Thanks…. I have done that now, but oddly enough it still does not work with this theme effect.(Themes/titles/slide the one with title and subtitle) Perhaps its in some sort of script !!!

If I delete the theme effect the timeline WILL output with alpha… if I put it back the rest of the clips don’t either…. very strange. but thanks the new compressor destination with pro res4444 with alpha is now there as a detonation when to works.
    X hugs guys.

Just an idea… maybe copy/duplicate a little section of your cut to experiment with, and try changing the composite mode on the title to some different modes and exporting it. Maybe another setting will work?

got around it by taking the mov file into AE … output as png sequence ….. opening in photoshop each still ….selecting with magic wand … then cut the shape and batch save … then reload footage into AE worked fine and took only about 20 mins. …… zzzzzzzzzz but a bit tedious !!!
