I currently do 5 to 10 minute, two-camera music video promos (YouTube) with with FCP 6 on a six year old MacBook Pro (living Hell!). Looking for an affordable improvement via craigslist. Found the following MacBook Pro ($1200). Want to know if I am going to kick myself for not getting a newer system with Retina Display and nvidia 750m. I would really appreciate it if somebody would check the following specs and tell me how well FCP X might perform on this system. Many Thanks!

MacBook Pro / Fast SSD / And 2nd Hard drive for media storage
    2.3Ghz Quad Core i7 / 16 GB RAM / 256 Samsung 840 EVO SSD / 500 GB HHD
    Glossy 1440×900 Screen / Nvidia GT 650M / Intel 4000 / External CD/DVD Drive

If it’s the MBP with 512MB Nvidia GT 650M, then most likely, yes. But it would still be a quantum leap compared to what you have now.

I personally would never want to have to work on any Mac with FCP and less than 1GB of VRAM (on a dedicated GPU).
