  • Opening FCPX 1.0 Project Backup in FCPX 1.1

I edited a FCPX 1.0 Project on my 2008 Mac Pro running Mountain Lion and backed up the FCPX Project file before my Raid 0 with all my media crashed. I’m in the process of moving over to a new Mac Pro with a new TB2 raid running FCPX 1.1 and would like to rebuild the project on the new system. The problem I’m having is that when I try to open the FCPX 1.0 file in FCPX 1.1 it shows up as text only. If I open the old project on the old computer in version 1.0 it opens without the media connected as expected. I tried moving the the old project file over to the new system and running the “update old projects” option, but it’s not updating the project.

One option I’m considering is to upgrade the old computer to Mavericks…. update FCPX to the 1.1 version and then update the 1.0 version of the project to ver. 1.1 but it seems like a lot of steps to go through.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,

Do you mean FCP X versions 10.0 and 10.1.1 respectively?

    Thanks Jeremy and Bret,

By placing the backup project file in the old “FCP Projects” and FCP Events” folders located on a backup drive over to the new TB drive …. “Updating Projects and Events” via the “Locate” option I was able to convert the files to the new 10.1.1 file format.

    Thanks again!
