  Find location of missing file in AE

  Hi,

  Is there a way to find out the location of a missing file in AE?

  Apple’s Motion will tell you in the relocation window where the file was the last time so you can hook up or mount the drive required. Does AE do this?

  To find the file you must know what the file is and then go to start and press type in the file name and it should appear. if it doesnt you should type in adobe after effects into the search bar and then go into the after effects file and type in the file name in the search bar and you should find it then but if it isnt there then you should reinstall the program then the file should be there but if they arent then there is something wrong with the disc

  Hi there,

  Simply type the word “missing” into the search field in the Project panel, this will isolate all missing files. Then double-click the missing asset and relocate it to relink it (and any other missing assets in the same relative path).

  If you can’t rememeber where the file was you have two choices. After Effects has a file path column in the Project panel that will tell you the file pth of the original file. Alternatively, you can search for the file in the dialog box that appears when you double-click the missing footage.
