I’ve been shooting on an Alexa today and decided to go Log C. Editor is happy at the prospect of using X to edit this.

I took the footage into X on location and it looks fab, I wanted to show the director of shooting in Log C and thus unticked the Log C box in the info.

But I didn’t appear to be able to make any colour correction when the clip was in the timeline..

Was I being silly or is this a “feature”?

[Michael Sanders] “But I didn’t appear to be able to make any colour correction when the clip was in the timeline..”

Meaning the Color Board doesn’t work or you are missing the “Log Precessing” box?

You should open the metadata view menu and create a custom preset that includes the “Log Processing” box and select it.

It should work. The color board works with or without log processing enabled on the Alexa footage I have.

Works on my end too on the Alexa footage samples I have.

Here is my guess at what might have happened. Your playhead was on clip A and thus showing in the viewer, but you had clip B selected. Therefore you were making changes to clip B, while viewing clip A.

    Just a while guess. 😉

If memory serves me right, the feature only works with Alexa cameras using the latest software version from Arri. Could be the issue you have. (I remember testing it with a 2 year old file and it did not work).

    hope this helps

Yes only some Alexa clips that were captured with the proper settings will work, however, I think the OP issue was that the color corrections didn’t do anything to the clip. Not that the log C viewing didn’t work.

In use the quit and go home method to fix problems as well.

Most of the time, it works very well.
