Exporting FCPX Title Template for use in Adobe Premiere Pro
I am trying to export a title graphic template from FCP X… “Reveal” to be specific.
I am exporting as ProRes 4444 to keep the alpha channel but when imported into Adobe Premiere Pro it does not have the Alpha Channel. The transparent parts are not transparent.
Has anyone tried doing this before? How can I make this work? Why am I losing the Alpha even if exporting ProRes 4444? -

What you are doing should work fine – just make sure your Reveal title is attached to a blank Gap clip and not sitting over the top of something with a solid Alpha Channel.

And make sure everything is unrendered before export.

I had it sitting on the timeline by itself nothing under it.
just tried it with the Gap Clip under and that didn’t help either.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong here.Since the template has it’s own alpha I shouldn’t have to add a Keying effect to it before I export it should I?

Premiere used to have a bug that meant it ignored the alpha channel in ProRes 4444 footage. It was supposedly fixed but maybe not?

That’s right – just tried this and although FCP X exports the Alpha as expected, Premiere shows it as solid.
Why not try an image sequence that supports alpha?

I usually change the render settings of the sequence to 4444 if I’m remembering correctly.

Could also open up the exported 4444 file in QTPro 7 and check the video track’s ‘Transparency’ setting prior to bringing it into Premiere… I can’t test this right now, though.
