what can i use other than compressor to burn to dvd a file exported from final cut x?
Well im stuck and the client is about to kill me now ?:-( i have a video i did in final cut pro x and i exported the rendered file as a .mov file to so ican use compressor to shrink it to dvd so i can give it to my client only problem is compressor isnt cooperating it keeps quiting and when it didnt quit it took 2days straight to do 30% of the video. Now i have always exported qucktime files from FC pro X then use compressor to to prepare a video for dvd and i never had any issues. my question is there another way of burning this video to DVD without using compressor?

Apple iDVD, Apple DVD Studio Pro, Sorenson Squeeze, Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe Encore, Roxio Toast.
I presume you exported a ProRes QuickTime Movie from FCP X. Right? What are the format specs? In Compressor, are you using the pop-up Job Template for DVDs? Or are you simply trying to encode MPEG2/AC3 file for later authoring/burning?
Assuming this is a one-off disc with simple play-at-start functionality, then if you get the MPEG2/AC3 files encoded, you could also use Toast, DVD SP, Encore to author/burn.
Have you tried the Share menu straight from inside FCP X without going to Compressor? Works well the few times I’ve tried it for Blu-ray. Very automatic and runs in the background.

“Good and pretty comprehensive answer from Oliver.
Particularly his pointing you to the Share menu directly inside X.
If you’re OK with a “plain vanilla” interface, the DVDs directly out of X’s Share menu are great.
OTOH, not knowing your specific situation, I do see people having issues with the sheer amount of content they’re trying to squeeze onto a DVD.
One client kept failing only to finally acknowledge it was trying to pack 3 hours of seminars on a single layer, single sided disk using the default encoder.
That’s kinda not going to happen. You’ve got to understand the amount of digital water you’re working with and the size of the bucket you’ve got to put it in, if you don’t want the process to end up messy

Yes i tried the share menu just didnt work right on my computer,thats why i always export a quick time file(normaly a huge file size) then i bring it into compressor using the dvd burn preset or manual settings.it just not working anymore, i have toast titanium, on my computer so i will try it thank you

im sure its not the size of the video,ive done it so many times before on videos over one hour, this video is only 57 mins long. not sure whats going on.

Doesn’t the fact that you now can’t do things that you could do before concern you?
It would make me consider whether I have some system level issues going on. Fragmented drives, memory handling issues, background processes stuck in “always run” or past project bloat robbing loading space and screwing things up. — something that’s causing what used to work not to work anymore.
Where my brain would go, anyway.
