    Hello,

I just finished a project. I need to remove this from my laptop so that I can begin on another project.

If I simply make a up of the event and project folders associated to the project (Final Cut Events -> Project_Event and Final Cut Projects -> Project_Name), will that be sufficient to restore the project in the future?

    Your guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jim

    That would work.

You can also use FCPX to “Move” material to a new drive (in the File menu(. This also ensures file verification.

A nice way to backup FCPX stuff is to use disk images:

I personally use Carbon Copy Cloner to do just that automatically every night. Might save my bacon if there was a major disaster and Projects or Events got corrupted. You can exclude files that can gen re-generated automatically (Render, Analysis…) to have smaller backup sets.
