  FCP X won’t import wav file

  I have a translation track on a wav file which I previously imported into FCP X and then removed. For
  some unknown reason to me it will not allow me to reimport it. I’ve tried both drag and drop and using
  the “import” menu method. I do not receive any error messages but it does not show up in the events.
  Could the problem be that it was previously imported and then deleted? The file is not corrupted and plays
  in Audition just fine. I guess I will try trashing prefs. It did import fine previously but I deleted it but have now decided to use this track instead of another. Other files import fine, I’ve renamed the file and tried importing it but that made no difference as well as changed it’s location prior to importing. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  A lot of times, people select a clip and hit delete and they think that they’ve deleted the clip from their event. In reality, you’ve only labeled the clip as “rejected” and it’s still in the event. It won’t show up because the default browser view is to hide rejected clips.

  I suggest clicking on the browser view drop down and choosing All Clips (CTRL+C) and then see if you see it. If you do then select the clip and hit U on the keyboard to remove the rejected status from it and you can return to Hide Rejected view (CTRL+H)

  This would explain why you don’t get an error message when you try to import because FCPX recognizes that you already have the clip in your project.

  Solution was to create a new “event” then drag the problematic file to the previous “event” I was working with. Of course I could have also left it in the new “event” but I chose not to.

  I had the same thing happen towards the end of my last project. Not only could I not reimport a clip I deleted but any new media wouldnt show up as well. A new event solved the problem but it makes me nervous about the stability of FCP X
