When I use an effect like the Swap transition I see tearing (e.g., a comb-like breakup of fast moving elements). My project is NTSC DV. The problem is evident while editing on my iMac and it’s in the finished SD NTSC DVD.

Before posting this I did a test with another project set for 720p and I don’t see it on the iMac. I don’t have a Blu-ray recorder so I can’t make a DVD to test it.

    My question is:

Is this sort of artifact a result of working in NTSC DV, or the interlaced aspect of NTSC, or FCPX in general, or what? And is there a way to avoid it when having to deliver SD DVDs?

    Thank you.

Here’s a screen cap of what the tearing looks like.
