Trying to learn some FCXP best practices. Working in Legacy FCP, I would routinely duplicate projects before making extensive changes and then at the end of a session, save the new version with date.

In X (10.0.4) , I try a similar routine and find I lose all my renders in the new project. Not the end of the world perhaps, but not ideal to have to re-render.

When I searched I found lots of references to duplicating projects for a variety of purposes – but not associated with lost lost renders.

So I’m wondering whether I’m overlooking something or whether it is simply how FCPX works.

Ive been looking at the same thing. I think this is the function since it treats projects as indepentend elements. Also doesn’t seem that u can disable the auto render function…in case u want backup, but not necessarily rendered.
