Final Cut Pro X is constantly suggesting I use proxy footage because my hard drive isn’t fast enough. I want to know if I can edit the project using proxy footage but then export the final product, substituting the proxy footage for the optimised footage? Does the project make references to the optimised footage as you work with the proxy footage? What else can I do to speed up FCPX?

    Thanks

Select all of your footage, right click, and choose create proxy media (make sure proxy media is enabled in preferences). Editing/playback will always use proxy media, when you export it will use full res.
