  • PAL footage recognised as NTSC? What is going on?!

Hi everyone, I’m very new here and new to final cut as a whole. In the past, I have used premiere pro 4 and Avid Xpress DV. So please excuse me if anything I say leaps out as entirely moronic!

I have been shooting footage on my Canon 600d (Rebel t3i). It is set for PAL broadcast settings at 1080p 25fps. When I ingest this footage to FCPX it recognises all of this, yet as you can see from the picture above, it constantly marks the footage as NTSC. I am trying to figure out what potential problems this causes, and more importantly, how to rectify it. As far as I can find, there is no option to change this at all.
It is probably useful to mention that I live and work in the UK, and all software/hardware is purchased, registered, and set up for European/UK use.

    Can anyone please help me?

    Thank you in advance.

    Chris

It does the same for me but I don’t really see that it matters. It may say NTSC but if the frame size, rate and colour space are right then it’s still effectively PAL. The difference between PAL/NTSC is a little fuzzier in HD.

Alternatively, you can always manually set the project to PAL when you create it.

    Cheers,
