  • 10.0.3 forgetting title changes

Yesterday I modified titles in 17 projects (all in one event). I never shut down my mac or even quit FCPX. When I came back this morning, all but one of my title changes have gone back to what they were before I made the changes. Did some rogue code from Time Machine sneak into FCPX?

So I redid the title changes, but the titler was responding very slowly, so I rebooted. When I opened the event all the title changes are gone again!

This sort of sounds like a corrupted project file. I’d be tempted to copy and paste the clips from the errant one to a brand new project.

This is happening in 16 different projects; all in the same event. I don’t think it is a corrupted project file.

After further investigation, it appears that I am a victim of the *Undo Bug. The Undo Bug will be hearing from my lawyer.

*In some situations, the Undo function in FCPX stops working and when that happens, any changes or edits you are making will not be saved.

Forgetting title changes seems to still be a persistent problem, regardless of what they say they fixed in the updates.

OK…. so then if this is happening (I’ve not seen it yet myself) then how do you know when it’s happening?

Is it only AFTER you’ve made changes for a day, then quit only to come in the next day to find out that you’ve lost a day? yikes…

In my case, I will create a tile with modified appearance settings (color, shadow, etc.). I will copy and paste this generated clip to a later point in the timeline and then modify the text for a new title. Sometimes it works. Other times it acts like the change has been made, but then I exit out of editing the title and the changes did not stick. If I close and relaunch FCP X, it works as expected, when I edit the title again.

I’m having the same problem in 10.0.5. I have some titles that were typed up quickly, with typos and lacking punctuation and line breaks. I have edited them several times, they always revert back. They revert back as soon as I start doing something else, without restarting Final Cut. I have restarted the programme and the computer, but the problem persists. I’ll have a look at that undo bug you mention, but does anyone have any solutions for this?
