    This is a simple effect.

I am making a video referencing water and I have three pieces of information on the screen.

    Title
    phone number
    email address

At the beginning of each title they require the ‘flashback’ transition under Movements.
In order for each transition not to affect the other titles or b-roll beneath them I have to make each a compound clip and right click the transition and un-check the box ‘transition to/from black’

In FCP 7 the effect would be as simple as placing the titles in different video tracks and apply the transitions individuality.

Does anyone know a simpler way to do this?

    Robert –

Actually it is not a bug, it is the way the transition was created. It does the little water effect on the outgoing clip and the incoming clip. You can choose to “open in motion” and then just turn off the incoming clip. Of course if you wanted to, you could make a rig and add some options to it.

I did a quick version of the effect for the incoming clip only. Enjoy!
