  Can a separate matte and fill be used for keying?

  Has anyone been able to successfully use a separate matte and fill for keying? We are trying the image mask but with not results.

  Yes.

  Put the mask above, the fill below, and apply the “Stencil Luma” blend mode to the mask (top layer).

  If you need something below the mask and fill, compound the mask and fill, then add a layer below them.

  If you’re maks already has an alpha, use the Stencil Alpha instead of Stencil Luma.
