Is it my imagination or does FCP X doesn’t support transparency? I made a lower third in After Effects with an alpha channel and partial transparency on the lower thirds box containing the title of the person. The alpha channel worked in FCP X but the partial transparent box that allowed the video underneath to show in After Effects did not appear as a partially transparent box in FCP X. Is this right or do I need to turn something on via a check box.

[David Tannenbaum] “I made a lower third in After Effects with an alpha channel and partial transparency on the lower thirds box containing the title of the person. “

In what format? Have you tried modifying the alpha type in the info window (must be set to settings view)?

my mistake. The transparency was produced in AE by the layer modes settings but the opacity was 100%. Once I changed the opacity in the AE file to anything less than 100% then I got the desired effect. (I knew something was up when the same problem manifested in Premeire too)

    Thanks for your response
