    Hi there,

I’m here to ask you a good workflow to edit projects on MBP with proxy…

I wish to do the following:

1-IMPORT PRORES FILES in a new event on my MACPRO
2-CREATE A NEW PROJECT and TRANSCODE everything in proxy
3-EXPORT MY PROJECT AND ONLY TRANSCODED Proxy EVENT to my MBP….
I dont want the prores422 on my MBP
4-EDIT AND FINISH MY WORK on MBP
5-Come back to my MACPRO with the Project to close editing in HIGH-RES with PRORES FILES

    that’s all
    is it possible…?
it seems that the only way is to copy everything on the MBP and it is too much diskspace for me!
for this reason I want to move only the proxy, but the project should be reconnectable with the PRORES waiting in my MACPRO…

anybody experienced about this kind of wflow…?

    Thankyou in advance

    Alvo

With all the respect, I wonder, why would anyone ask questions like that? It takes about two minutes to try it yourself. It is even faster than typing all those CAPS words… Why waste your time? And others.

    Dear Eugeny,
sorry for caps…but if I have had no problems to do it successfully I didnt post anything.

Could you give me a suggestion about this procedure….?

    thankyou

Switching between proxy and full res is done in the Prefernces. Copy only the media you want to MBP and set your prefs to proxy.

….in this way on the MBP fcpx shows the timeline as offline files…

It’s like fcpx in MBP recognize the proxy files as primary files…

[Alvaro Lanciai] “….in this way on the MBP fcpx shows the timeline as offline files…”

Where did you put the event/project on your MBP?

    Alvaro,
I was a little bit confused with the way you’ve put your question, cause from your post it seemed like you now what exactly you need to do (you described the steps just the way they should be done), but want someone else to check whether it works or not. My apologies to you for that misunderstanding)

    Eugeny,
I’m Italian…my English and the form of my post may be easily misunderstood….

…I copy the proxy files folder from MACPRO to MBP USER>ALVARO>MOVIES>FINAL CUT EVENTS
and also the project to USER>ALVARO>MOVIES>FINAL CUT PROJECTS

when I open the project everything works but if I check USE PROXY MEDIA in the preferences everything
    looks offline…

So if you click the use full quality media, it works? Leave it on what works.

    dear friends,

    everything solved…
the problem happen when I move the project from MACPRO to MBP.
Before moving it is necessary to select USE PROXY MEDIA in the preferences before moving the project to the MBP.
If you move the project without doing so, once you begin to work in MBP, FCPX will consider the proxy files as ORIGINAL OR OPTIMIZED FILES….

    thank you for your assistance
