  • Share to youtube taking a very long time?

Posted by Pat Harris on August 25, 2011 at 3:43 am

I recently edited my first video in FCPX. I used FCP 7 a lot and I actually like FCPX so far. Usually I would export a self contained QT file then compress to H.264 for youtube. I did not buy compressor with FCPX however, so I figured I would give the share to youtube a try. this brings up the share monitor (batch monitor?) The video is 3 mins and after about 5 or 6 mins it was estimating 4 hours in the share monitor. Instead I exported to QT, (took about 2 mins) then I dropped it into the old compressor to convert to H.264. It took 13 mins.

Any one know reasons why the share to youtube was taking so much longer? maybe my H.264 settings were slightly different, but thats a BIG difference.

    Pat,

Is the video fully Rendered prior to sending to youtbe?
Try a render all first and then try the youtube thing again.

I have had the same issue.
My thoughts are that when you allow FCPX to decide what codec to use, it goes for 720P or even 1080, when uploading to YouTube.
When you export, convert and upload you are probably in 480?

Im still trying to get the hang of FCPX so I might not be right about this.
