Any one here had any issues with Perian and FCP-X? There’s been numerous posts in the past few years with Perian and AVCHD and miscellaneous audio issues in FCP 7.

Perian is a tool I can use from time to time, but it’s not completely necessary that I load it on the new computer running FCP-X. Any one currently using both and using AVCHD with or without incident?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Perian 1.2.3, OS 10.6.8, FCPX playing well together. I have used numerous AVCHD and H.264 .mp4 files in FCPX without issue.

    Craig,

Okay, it likely will be just fine. I seem to remember a number of posts at the Apple FCP forums with people blaming Perian for audio related problems. I also did a search a couple of days ago and found a bunch of posts for “perian and FCP”, but the majority of them said they tried disabling it in the System Prefs and still had whatever issue they were having.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Perian tends to be much better behaved these days then in the past. It used to be the source of a lot of codec conflicts which is why they eventually built in the disable feature I believe. I haven’t had to disable it in well over a year though.

    Craig,

Good to know, I’ll give it a go.

    Thanks,
    Dave
