  • Stabilization won’t “turn off”

Posted by Sean Thomas on July 18, 2011 at 12:51 am

    Has anyone seen this:

I selected a clip in the time-line and applied Stabilization in the Inspector.

Did this with all the clips in a sequence – then made a compound clip of the entire timeline to apply a global look to it.

Everything rednered but a few of the clips were really messed up by the Stabilization.

I go back into the original time-line, select the messed up clips, and uncheck Stabilization.
The footage DID NOT revert back to it’s original form.

It seems like X would not “let go” of it’s rendered files.

My QUICK FIX was to disable/enable the clips which worked just fine. I assume it released the render file.

[Sean Thomas] “I go back into the original time”

Since you were in a Compound clip, what was the steps you took to go back to the timeline?
Break Apart Clip Items or, did you just do a series of undo commands or something else.

I double clicked the compound clip in the “new compound clip” time-line and it takes you back to the original time line with all of the clips, edits, etc.

That is where the stabilization was applied.

Actually that just opens the Compound Clip in its own timeline. It may seem like the original timeline because the entire timeline was made into a Compound Clip.

Try using the Break Apart Clips command instead.

Ok – X calls it “history” once you open a compound clip. So yes it’s the same timeline, just 2 different views.

I really don’t want to break apart my clips. Just want to uncheck stabilization and have the effect “turn-off”

    Has anyone seen this issue?

I got a work-around. Just currious if it’s a bug or if I’m doing something wrong.
