So I have some paths in Illustrator that I’d like to import into After Effects to add a stroke to and do a “Trim Paths” effect to to animate it. I can paste the path into After Effects no problem, but no matter what I do I can’t get any stroke to outline the path.

When i paste the paths onto a new solid it just makes a mask, and when I paste it onto a shapes layer it just gives me the paths but It wont let me add stroke or even a fill. Any solution for this? I’m sure its a step i’m missing but I can’t figure it out.

    Thanks.

    Hi Mike,

In your solid layer, are you adding the stroke and fill using the layer paths?

I’m having a similar problem. I have a shape layer which I’ve drawn some paths and copied & pasted others. On the paths I drew when I add fill & stroke it adds them below to all the paths, instead of to the one I have selected. So I can’t have different fills on these. However the paths I copied from another layer have their own different fills. So what is going on?
