  editing XDcam

  Hi guys,
  I’m gonna Edit a short film shot in HDV with Sony XDcam HVR Z1. I think I’m gonna get access to the camera. I’ve been told that this camera doesn’t have FireWire connectivity so you have to transfer the footage via usb cable. If is true, I presume is gonna be fairly slow. I downloaded the drivers for Sony XDCAM and when I go to files import I can choose that format and the log and transfer window opens.
  What about the project settings? Can I edit and deliver using the ProRes HQ or Proxy or you think is better choosing a XDCam setting for the sequence?

  Any help we’ll be appreciated…

  HVR Z1 is HDV not XDCAM. It does have firewire. Editing HDV involves lots of choices, and yours will depend on what kit you already have. If on FCP ask in that forum for current thinking. Many people capture HDV to a different format for editing. These links may help you more :
