  DFect Reel – Any ideas on how… ?

  Hello!

  Please check out the DFect 09 Reel – https://cargocollective.com/FredrikDavidsson#201164/Showreel-09. Does anyone have any idea how he got the liquid ink look at the beginning? I highly doubt it is an actual shot. I would guess it was out of a 3D package or a plugin in AE. But what plugin gets it that clean? Hope someone here has some ideas. Thanks.

  I think your first guess is correct – that it was created and rendered in a 3d app. I’m gonna guess RealFlow.

  without realflow, try a 3d app a particle system (or two) and metaballs. and of course you’ll need to set up the lighting, material and possibly some physics.

  without a 3d app, ae, mr. mercury and several layers. it wouldn’t look as realistic, but you might get some passable, quick-and-dirty results…
