When I import a QT file with audio, when I render (preview and make movie) I get an audio error “After Effects error opening sound component (-2166)”
The preview still plays with audio, and I get the error intermittently, but if definitely will not render as an output.

Is there a better way to import a movie with audio?

    All this with:

    G5 w/2GB SDRAM; 2.7GHz
    QT 7.0.3
    AE 5.5
    QT mov w/Sorenson3; 48KHz (or 44.1; consistent w/AE comp)

I’ve found that AE doesn’t like importing Sorenson. Try Animation, Photo-JPEG or a TGA sequence.

Good advice, however I get the same results on audio files only, uncompressed.

I’ve gotten a similar error if my sound card is doing other things as well, such as playing MP3s, or even if I had opened up the Quicktime player and played a clip with sound while AE was open. I’m on a PC running Windows XP and my sound is just onboard Legacy drivers. Let me know if you solve your problem.
