Great software… not exactly free though.

“True, but neither is Resolve if you want any of the “advanced” features or the control surfaces. It’s another option, and the software (Mamba) really isn’t that expensive compared to the other players…

November 13, 2015 at 9:25 pmI have thought about migrating to Nuke Studio but that is expensive. Despite some quirks with Resolve, staying with it and Fusion. Just added Sapphire to the mix.
The magnetic timeline, it’s magnetic-o-matic!

Sorry, my comment was more or less tongue in cheek… people really like free. I think Mamba FX is a tremendous value… but the free version of Fusion pretty much does the same thing.

November 13, 2015 at 10:58 pmMamba is very cheap for what it does. And its power is unrivaled.
BTW: SGO Mistika was used as the finishing tool for the first major movie ever that has been cut in FCP X: https://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/in-action/detective-dee/

Can you say a little more about this?
Also, at the risk of veering off topic (?!?! what?), there’s not much in the article about HOW they used SGO in a unique way, or for unique tasks. Can you say more about that as well?
But mostly, I’m interested in your unrivaled power observation.
Thanks!

November 14, 2015 at 12:22 amSGO Mistika has also been the finishing tool of choice for Peter Jackson’s folks. Stereo 3D, conforming, color correction.
