I agree that Mamba is very powerful, but what in your mind makes it better than Nuke, Fusion or Blender?

November 16, 2015 at 2:43 pmI used Mamba for a few shots during the beta a couple years ago. It’s very fast and interactive, with a fully-GPU-accelerated architecture. Keying was good. SGO’s optical flow tools are outstanding (and real-time!). Did I mention it was fast and interactive?
Ultimately, I didn’t jump in with both feet because we don’t do a ton of shot-based work, and Mamba suffers (for me) from a couple of problems: the UI/UX is highly idiosyncratic (understatement), and there are not a lot of freelancers using it.
Is Mamba better than Nuke/Fusion? I wouldn’t say that — I’d say it’s different — but Ronny’s certainly right that you get a lot of features and performance for very little money.
