    Hi,
I’m making a short film. The sound guy did it in 5.1 surround sound. I’m editing in FCPX. He sent me 7 files – The C, L, LFE, Ls, R, Rs. He also sent a file called 5.1 Final. To export the movie with 5.1 surround sound, do I need to import the 6 individual channels to my project in FCPX or can I just use the single 5.1 final file? Not sure if this helps but the 5.1 final file is is 745MB while the other six files are 124MB each.

Is it the final mix for your film? If so, just import the 5.1 version.

Yes it is the final mix. So I just use that one large file? Thank you for your help.

Yep, that should be fine… give it a unique Role and make sure you set the the export to Roles as Multitrack Quicktime Movie and set the format to surround. 🙂
