I have a library of DVCPRO 50 tapes and a Panasonic AJ-SD93P deck. I’ve traditionally captured through an IO HD—SDI out of the deck. I’ve discovered that the IO HD is not supported under FCPX. I don’t have to access these tapes very often (like this is the first time in several years) so I’m loath to invest a lot in a “new” capture solution. Any suggestions for an economical ingest setup?

Does the deck have Firewire connectivity? DVCPRO 50 traditionally does.

The IO devices are now only “O” with FCX…they only work to output to a monitor. The only way to capture directly into FCX is via firewire.

You can, however, capture using the IO makers software. AJA does make a capture utility called AJA VTR EXCHANGE. You can capture with that, and you IO…and then import that into FCX.

Unfortunately the FW port on the deck fried a long time ago. $1500 to replace the FW card wasn’t worth it while the IO HD was working. I’ll try the utility you suggested–thanks!
