    Hi,
I am new to after effects and have an amateur question for you, as always.
I have created an animation in maya with black background, imported it to AE 6.5 and have put keylight on it, choosed the color picker clicked on the black background but nothing happened, the black background is still there(i switched on the transparency grid).

    Thanks in advance.

Keylight can only key out primary colors such as blue or green. For black or white use the Extract Effect.

Or try using a luminance key. Not ideal but will work on your black background. Ideally the exported video would have an included alpha channel. Look at exporting to a mov with “millions of colors +” as your color choice.

    Good luck,
