I has working on a 12 sec project today. It was in 1080i 30p but there was no video in the comp I just needed the comp dimensions to match my fcp project. When I was almost finished with the project I did a ram preview and the green render bar would only go to about 7 sec or so and the stop? then it would play back the 7 sec or so (what was ram previewed)

I had the work bar just above the timeline extended the entire length of the comp. and when I was finished I rendered the project into a quicktime and it was all there all 12 seconds. So why was the ram preview only ram previewing the first 7 sec? could this have anything to do with the comp being in 1080i ?

also should you interpret a still picture?

do u get better results if you render q a nest comp or does it not make any difference?

can anyone suggest things that I could do to my mac (g ) at work to keep it running better.

    thanks

RAM preview will only preview as much as it can store in the RAM … get more RAM, or preview at half quality … or just preview in short bits …

Pictures, photos, graphics etc should be interpreted as Fields OFF … unless for some reason the still image has come from interlaced video.

Shouldn’t make a difference if you render the nest or if you render the comp.
