  Illstrator file as Mask

  Hello Everybody, just new to this community, hope to get some help.

  I want to animate a falling elevator in 2D comic style with a pattern inside, which is, logically, masked by the Outline of the elevator. Is there a way to set the illustrator file as a mask for the pattern in AE?

  Assuming the illustrator file has an alpha and is the shape of the elevator (the shape you want to mask), put the Illustrator file above the pattern file, then on the pattern file set the TrkMat (Track Matte) to Alpha (in the Modes Column).
