    Yes, this was announced in March and it’s only the 2.5″ laptop drives. That makes sense as generally laptops these days have either the less expensive 5400 drives or, if someone wants fast booting, they go right to an SSD model.

    The 3.5″ drives you’d use in Desktops or RAID enclosures are not being discontinued.

    SSD drives are amazing – just finished an edit on a mac book pro retina with SSD drives internal and external (via thunderbolt) blazing fast renders, transfers…..

    I agree, but they’re still too pricey for me. Hopefully, next year. I bought the Hybrid drive on price and not performance.

    True! I love the speed. However, the only hard drive that’s died on me in 12 years was an SSD system drive. Just blinked out and never came back. So, yeah; backups are good.
